As Breakspear Medical’s clinic is a day patient unit, we understand that out-of-town patients receiving treatment may wish to stay overnight in the Hemel Hempstead area. We’re pleased to offer comfortable, specially designed accommodation to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

As of 1 August 2025, we have one two-bedroom apartment available for short-term let to patients and their companions (minimum stay of two nights).

If our apartment isn’t available for your treatment dates, we’re happy to provide contact details for other excellent local accommodation options. Many of these alternatives offer special discounts to our patients.

About our apartment

We’ve taken great care in creating a welcoming space specifically designed with our patients’ health sensitivities in mind. The apartment has been decorated and furnished using products that help screen electromagnetic fields, and we maintain it completely scent-free for your comfort and wellbeing.

Our apartment is conveniently located in a modern building just a short walk from the clinic, along with local shops, cafes and restaurants. The location is so convenient – less than three minutes (about 200 walking steps door to door) – that transport isn’t needed, though you’re welcome to arrange your own, if preferred.

Just like at the clinic, we maintain a scent-free environment in the apartment. We ask all guests to kindly refrain from using any scented products during their stay and to avoid smoking anywhere in the apartment or on the balcony.

If you need assistance with daily activities, please arrange for a carer to accompany you (additional accommodation fees will apply). Please note that we don’t provide nursing or medical care at the apartment.

Important: All guests must be at least 16 years of age.

Bookings are subject to availability and can be arranged through our friendly Reception team at +44 (0)1442 261 333.

Our shared apartment

We have one comfortable apartment with two bedrooms available for let. It’s located on the third floor of the building and is easily accessible by lift or stairs.

The apartment features:

  • A master bedroom with two single metal-frame beds, built-in wardrobe, and private ensuite shower and WC
  • A single bedroom with one single metal-frame bed, open metal wardrobe, and dedicated use of the main bathroom
  • A welcoming shared sitting room with large screen television
  • A shared kitchen and dining area where you can prepare your own meals

The furniture has been specially selected; much of it is quality second-hand pieces that have been naturally outgassed for years, making it ideal for our patients with sensitivities.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals: refrigerator, small freezer, cooker, microwave, plus plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils. Simply bring your own ingredients and you’ll have everything needed to create comfortable, home-cooked meals. (Please note: we don’t provide food or condiments.)

Cost

The apartment is available to let for £75 per person per night (subject to terms and conditions, minimum stay of two nights, subject to availability).*   Please confirm the current rates when booking with Reception +44 (0)1442 261 333.

*Price includes VAT. Breakspear Medical reserves the right to alter prices without notice – 2025.

FAQs

Where can I stay overnight when I’m attending the clinic for several days?

Because Breakspear Medical is a day patient unit, out of town patients receiving treatment may wish to stay overnight in the Hemel Hempstead area. We currently offer a shared two-bedroom apartment for short-term let to patients and their companions (minimum stay of two nights).

If there is not a room available for the dates that you wish to have treatment at Breakspear Medical, we can give you the contact details of other local, alternative accommodations, some of which offer a discount to our patients.

Bookings are subject to availability and may be booked through Reception +44 (0) 1442 261 333.

Can my carer stay at the clinic’s apartments with me?

Yes, if you require assistance with the activities of daily living, you must arrange for a carer to stay with you at the apartments (additional person accommodation fees will apply). This is because there is no nursing or medical care provided at the apartments.

Please ensure that they adhere to our strict scent-free policy, too.

How much does it cost to stay at the apartments?

The apartments are available to let for £75 per person per night (subject to terms and conditions, minimum stay of two nights, subject to availability).*   Please confirm the current rates when booking with Reception +44(0)1442 261 333.

Note: all guests must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

*Price includes VAT. Breakspear Medical reserves the right to alter prices without notice—2025.

How far in advance should I book the room in the shared apartment?

We recommend booking the apartment at the same time you book your clinic appointments to ensure the room is available for your treatment dates. The further in advance you book, the more likely the apartment will be available when you need it. Since we only have one apartment with limited capacity, early booking helps guarantee your accommodation and gives you peace of mind when planning your treatment journey. You can arrange both your appointments and accommodation through our Reception team at +44 (0)1442 261 333.

Is there parking available at the apartment?

We offer limited parking at the apartment building for £6 per day (subject to availability).* To use our parking, you’ll need to provide your car’s number plate details prior to arrival, as the building uses an ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) system with cameras.  Please note that you park at your own risk.

There’s also limited street parking and a multi-storey car park nearby for your convenience.

Can I do laundry during my stay?

The apartment does have a washing machine for your use.  Please adhere to the scent-free rules when purchasing your scent-free laundry powder.

Are towels and bed linens provided?

Each room is supplied with a standard number of sheets, pillows, pillowcases, duvets, blankets and towels.  Please let us know at least 48 hours in advance of any special bedding requests.

If you require additional towels, blankets or linen or have any further needs, please speak to Patient Liaison and we will endeavour to fulfil your request, if possible.

Is there a telephone or WiFi?

Within the apartment, there is no landline telephone and no WiFi is provided.

A neutral odour, solvent-free LF (low frequency alternating electrical fields) and HF (high frequency electromagnetic fields) paint has been used under the white interior paint for the comfort of our electrically-sensitive guests.

Limited use of your mobile internet device is appreciated in shared apartments.
