Breakspear Medical is CQC-registered for diagnostic and screening procedures, located in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP2 4FD.
Breakspear Medical is pleased to offer the following blood tests & test kits (UK RESIDENTS ONLY):

COVID-19 at-home antibody test kit
(at-home test)
Antibody testing can detect whether a person has been infected previously or has a vaccine-induced immune response.
This test can assist to determine whether you have adequate antibodies to offer protection against circulating SARS-CoV-2. (Some people may not develop an adequate response to prevent disease following re-exposure to the virus or one of its variants.) Antibody tests cannot diagnose acute infection.
We recommend this Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S(Spike) IgG/IgM antibody at-home test kit. With this kit, you collect the small blood sample at home, and The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) provides your results. The test is CE marked for home use.
Due to the time that it takes to develop antibodies after an infection or after a vaccination is administered, the test should not be done earlier than 14 days after either the onset of symptoms, or after receiving the vaccine. If one uses the test for the purpose of assessing antibody response after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, then it should only be done approximately four weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine regimen, to assess the peak antibody level.
As yet, we do not know the adequate level required required to sustain immunity against SARS CoV-2. The limitation of this test is that only one aspect of the immune system is being measured and our immune system is more complex than this. Even once IgG antibody levels wane, there are still memory T- and B-lymphocytes that retain a memory of the response.
Please note: if you have undergone plasma infusion, are immunocompromised or have secondary immunodeficiency this test must be interpreted with caution.
The COVID-19 At-home Antibody Test is available for £60 (including postage) & includes:
- CE marked Roche assay (Total IgG/IgM)
- The sealed kit includes Royal Mail Track 24 Response mailer and tracking label
- Sample taking instructions
- Your results, which will be emailed to you by us 2-4 days later

COVID-19 Spike antibody tests
(by appointment only)
Antibody testing can detect whether a person has been infected previously or has a vaccine-induced immune response.
If you are unsure about using the at-home kit, we offer the Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S(Spike) IgG/IgM antibody test. With this test, we will collect your venous blood sample and send it to The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and provide your result within two to four days.

TDL T-SPOT®. COVID T Cell
(by appointment only)
The T-SPOT®.COVID test is a simple blood test, which is intended for detection of a cell mediated (T cell) immune response to COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
This test is intended for use as an aid in identifying people with an adaptive, or acquired, immune response to COVID-19, specifically the T cell response. T cells and antibodies work together to control infection. However, a T cell response can broaden the type of immunity, as they can target different and complementary targets than the antibodies.
A positive test result means that the person has T cells that are reactive to the COVID-19 peptides used in the T-SPOT.COVID test. It is highly likely that they have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A negative test result means that the patient does not have T cells that are reactive to the COVID-19 specific peptides used in the test. It is therefore unlikely that they have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The COVID-19 SPOT.COVID T Cell Test is available for £149 & includes:
- an appointment at our CQC-registered clinic (see Location/Directions below)
- your blood sample to be taken by a phlebotomist
- your results, which will be emailed to you by us 3-5 days later
