1-hour that could help to save your life.
A comprehensive 1-hour health assessment designed to detect potential problems early and give you the knowledge to prevent serious conditions before they develop.

Take control of your health
Whether you’re concerned about persistent fatigue, testicular health, prostate changes or simply want to optimise your fitness, we’re here to provide the answers you need. Our men’s health check is designed to be straightforward, comprehensive, and completely confidential – because we understand that your health is personal.
Right now, men are putting off the health checks that could save their lives. The reality is stark: according to the Men’s Health Forum, 19% of men in the UK don’t see their 65th birthday, with cancer and heart disease being the leading causes. According to gov.uk, men are living 4 years fewer than women, often due to conditions that could have been caught early, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes (as shown in NHS datasets and Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) public health profiles).
Our Well Man Check can help you detect potential problems before they become serious. We can identify your personal risk factors and create a plan to address them. We can give you the knowledge and tools to prevent chronic conditions from developing.
Every step of the way, you decide what happens with your health information. Share it with your GP, keep it private, or discuss your options with us – it’s entirely your choice.
At Breakspear Medical, we don’t just run tests; we help you understand your body, identify what needs attention, and empower you to make the changes that will keep you healthy for years to come. Because your health isn’t just about you; it’s about everyone who depends on you being at your best.

What to expect
At Breakspear Medical, the Well Man Check examination is conducted by an experienced male doctor in a private, comfortable environment. From testicular concerns to prostate health, fatigue to fitness, we’ve made our men’s health check straightforward, comprehensive, and completely confidential. You are in complete control and can decide whether to involve your GP or handle your health privately.

Male health assessments can detect potential problems early, prevent chronic conditions, and help you stay on track with your health goals. At Breakspear Medical, we understand the unique health challenges men face and offer comprehensive assessments designed specifically for men’s wellbeing.
I’d been putting off a proper health check for years, but at 61, I knew I needed to take my health seriously. I was particularly worried about my heart, prostate, and cancer risk – all those things you hear about affecting men my age.
Dr Cannell made the whole experience so much easier than I expected. He explained everything clearly before doing it, answered all my questions, and genuinely made me feel comfortable during the examination. It was thorough, but not intimidating.
Yes, it’s an investment, but when you break it down, it’s a comprehensive screening that would normally require multiple separate appointments. The peace of mind alone is worth it. Plus, going forward, you won’t need every single test repeated annually, so it’s not like you’re paying this amount every year.
I’d definitely recommend it to other men who are serious about staying healthy. Don’t wait like I did; it’s one of the best things I’ve done for myself.”
– Bob, 61, Hertfordshire

FAQS
Is the examination uncomfortable?
The majority of your time is spent in comfortable discussion about your health and lifestyle. Every procedure is explained before it’s performed, so you know exactly what to expect. If you wish to exclude parts of the examination or tests, you simply have to talk to the doctor and let him know.
How old should men be to consider a Well Man Check?
There is no “right age” to begin regular health screenings; it’s never too early to take control of your health. The two key risk factors for men are simply “being male” and “getting older.” Even the healthiest individuals can develop unexpected health issues. We started this programme with the intent of helping men 50 years and older, however, any man with health concerns can book an appointment.
What happens if something is found?
During your consultation, if your doctor finds something of concern, he will discuss this with you there and then. If your blood tests or other pathology tests are irregular, you will be informed as quickly as possible. The Well Man Check includes a telephone or in-person 15 minute follow-up to discuss the test results. If you want to speak with the doctor longer, this can be arranged.
How long before I get results?
Your Well Man Check includes several pathology tests. The samples will be sent to the accredited laboratories for processing as soon as possible. When all the results are back, we will contact you to book your follow-up appointment. On average, the follow-up appointment will be booked within 3 weeks of your initial consultation.
Do I need to prepare anything before my assessment?
For the most accurate results, we recommend fasting for 8-12 hours before your appointment for blood tests. You should continue to drink water. Please bring a list of any medications or supplements you’re currently taking. If you are completing the Stool Test, you will be given the kit at your appointment for use when you go home.
What's the difference between your Well Man Check and a regular GP check-up?
Our assessment is more comprehensive than typical GP visits, which often focus on specific symptoms or concerns. We evaluate your overall health status, assess multiple risk factors, consider environmental factors, and provide preventative recommendations tailored specifically to men’s health needs.
