Breakspear Hospital provides mercury-free vaccinations for children and adults to cover everyone for school, business and international travel requirements.
We offer mercury-free vaccines because mercury is the second most toxic heavy metal on Earth - second only to uranium - and we believe that it is best to avoid toxic heavy metal exposure whenever possible.
Breakspear offers mercury-free chicken pox vaccinations
Chickenpox is a common disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which is part of the herpesvirus family.
Anyone can get chickenpox although it is more common in children under the age of 15.
Breakspear offers mercury-free vaccinations for chicken pox for both adults and children (over 1 year of age). Children under the age of 13 only require one vaccination, which are £90* each, payable on the day of the appointment. Patients over the age of 13
require two doses for the total cost of £180*.
Chickenpox most often occurs in the late winter and early spring and is very contagious. A person usually has only one episode of chickenpox in his or her lifetime. However, the virus that causes chickenpox can lie dormant within the body and can cause a different type of skin eruption later in life called shingles.
Breakspear also offers mercury-free BCG for all ages
The bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine provides immunisation against Tuberculosis (TB).
Breakspear Hospital offers mercury-free BCG to babies, children and adults to protect against TB for £50*.
A tuberculin skin test is carried out to determine past or present TB infection and is performed prior to BCG vaccinations on children over 1 year and adults. This test is called the Mantoux test, which is read in 48-72 hours. Our price for the Mantoux test is £50*.
We also offer the QuantiFERON®-TB Gold test, which is a whole-blood test for use as an aid in diagnosing Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, including latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and tuberculosis (TB) disease for £93*. Although there is limited data on the use of QuantiFERON®-TB Gold test in children younger than 17 years of age, this test is currently used in evaluation of recent immigrants who have had BCG vaccination, and TB screening of health care workers and others undergoing serial evaluation for M. tuberculosis.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are about 30 million new cases of TB worldwide every year. Approximately 7,000 of these new cases are in England, concentrated in large towns and cities.

More information about influenza (flu) vaccines...
Wondering about the avian flu?
A current epidemic that is pending is the Avian flu. 'Bird flu' is said to have a 75% likelihood of being lethal. Tamiflu is an antiviral drug thought to be effective against the H5N1 strain and has previously been available through Breakspear Hospital. Unfortunately at this time, demand for Tamiflu has exceeded Breakspear's current supplies. We are doing our best to restock as soon as possible.
