Visual Processing Expert

Ian Jordan FBDO CL works with patients who have visual processing problems such as dyslexia, tinnitus, hearing and balance, and offer helps with alteration of vision through the use of spectacles and colour. The consultation includes evaluation using the Orthoscopics System, which uses computerised assessment and prescribing instruments. Using this system, the optician will be able to determine the patient’s optimum colour response. This optimum response is then integrated with the effects of differing illumination and then lenses with the patient’s optimised colour filtering can be prescribed. The coloured lenses will at least minimise and usually eliminate the effects of visual perceptual difficulties. Treatment is very successful and results can often be immediate.

For more information, please visit Ian Jordan’s website www.orthoscopics.com.

Nursing Team

Mark Young is the Head Nurse at Breakspear Hospital. With an Australian military background, he keeps the Nursing Team in line.

The Nursing Team consists of specially trained full and part-time nurses. They are trained to listen, observe and treat their patients as whole, individual people. The nurses’ primary role is to perform allergy testing and administer supplemental drips. We also have trained medical support staff.

All members of Breakspear’s medical team are trained as first responders in the unlikely event of a medical emergency. The Hospital has all required emergency equipment and all clinical team members receive annual refresher training for essential emergency procedures including re-certification in CPR and use of the Hospital’s Automatic External Defibrillator.

Pharmacy

Also known as "Breakspear Nutritionals", the two member team in the Pharmacy Department dispense vitamins, minerals, supplements and many other products that have been selected for their environmentally-friendly qualities. For more information on products available, click here.

Pathology

The team members of Pathology department keep the laboratory samples and incoming results flowing. These men are sure to answer any questions patients may have regarding various sample collections and testing laboratories.

Antigen Laboratory

Barry Ryan has been meticulously managing the laboratory for over 10 years and has been with Breakspear even longer. The 4-member team produces our custom-made antigens in our in-house laboratory.  The laboratory consistently meets the high standards required by the MHRA to operate under our Manufacturer's 'Specials' License - making ours the only facility in the country to produce these antigens in a licensed laboratory.

Medical Secretaries and Library
Sharing an office on the first floor, the 4 full-time medical secretaries and the medical researcher research and prepare documents for the patients from the doctors and medical articles for publication every day.

The Breakspear Library is an excellent private resource centre for books and publications on the wide-spread world of allergy and environmental illness. Many out-of-print books and magazines have been carefully archived. If you are looking for information in our field of expertise, our Medical Researcher is sure to direct you to an abundance of resources.

Accounts
Raj Duhra manages the 8-member Accounts department, located on the first floor. Any member of the accounts team will do their best to answer any of your questions regarding proposed costs or your invoices.

Brian Chapman is our Credit Controller and is usually in a conveniently located office near Main Reception. Most payments to account that are made in-person will be handled by Brian or by Philippa, who is upstairs at the immunisation ward reception. Brian also manages any delinquent accounts.

Administration and Reception staff
Breakspear Medical Group Ltd relies heavily on the strength of the members of the administration and reception teams.

Elaine Cleveland, who has been with Breakspear Hospital for over 18 years, heads the 8-member reception team and has the unique ability to be able to help nearly anyone find nearly anything or anyone within the Hospital. If you have any questions, please approach Reception and they should be able to answer you right away or guide you in the right direction.

Catering

Both patients and staff lunches are catered for in-house. Each day, chefs John Dilger and Rob Gafney prepare customised organic lunches for patients who opt for them, as well as a buffet lunch for the nearly 60 staff members. Freshly packaged, individual dinners are prepared for patients staying at the Guesthouse or any other patients who wish to take advantage of this service.
