Parasitology at Breakspear
Signs and symptoms of systemic inflammation may originate from dysfunction from within the gastrointestinal tract

Parasitology (CSAP)

This analysis measures bacterial flora imbalances, disease-causing organisms, yeasts, fat metabolism and digestive abnormalities from a stool specimen. The specimen is sent to a specialist lab in America and a report gives information on patterns of maldigestion and malabsorption, intestinal metabolism, bacterial flora, yeast and fungi, including Candida.

The Comprehensive Stool Analysis (CSA) Panel is a useful panel of tests established for Breakspear Hospital to identify the efficacy of many of the digestive and adsorptive functions occurring within the gastrointestinal Tract within a competitively priced profile.

The contents and biological reactions occurring within the gastrointestinal tract can impact hepatic, neurological, immunological and musculoskeletal functions.

Signs and symptoms of systemic inflammation may originate from dysfunction from within the gastrointestinal tract. Simply treating the symptoms the patient is experiencing may lead to an exacerbation of the underlying causes.

Health problems linked to intestinal disorders include:

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Joint pain

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Crohn’s Disease

  • Autoimmune Disorders

  • Learning Disability

  • Psoriasis

Parasites can colonise the gut and persist if untreated, causing symptoms both in the gut and elsewhere. Many laboratories are inefficient at detecting these parasites, leading to false negative reports. We have a special arrangement with a laboratory in America, which has a proven high rate of detection, and has pioneered new technology in the field of Parasitology. The lab provides a report on fungi, bacteria and parasites present in these samples. Many of these organisms can be specifically treated to restore the normal gut ecology.

This test can be offered with 1,2 or 3 samples to give different levels of results.
