Urinary Polypeptides (IAG)

Idolyl-Acryloylglycine (IAG) can be found in trace amounts in the urine of apparently health normal individuals.  It is a metabolic product of the amino acide trytophan.

Conditions known to have an increased amount of IAG in the urine are:

  • Hartnup Disease
  • Dietary abnormalities
  • Abnormal bacteria in the large bowel
  • Autism
  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Dyslexia
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

Conditions in which IAG may occur are:

  • Increased intestinal permeability
  • Food allergies
  • Dietary sulphated deficiency
